This is a two-day Foundation course for anyone who works with children, young people, and/or adults. On completion, the course enables participants to use and develop the Protective Behaviours process for themselves and in their work.

The purpose of the training is to:

1) explore the key principles in the Protective Behaviours process and the relevance to people of different ages and abilities

2) develop skills to introduce the process to children, young people and adults including parents/carers in a range of settings

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to: ▪ Understand how Protective Behaviours (PBs) offers a practical and down to earth approach to personal safety for children, young people and adults. ▪ Support children, young people and adults to identify Unwritten Rules and choose effectively, which feel safe for them. ▪ Recognise the interaction between Feelings, Thoughts and Behaviour and how choices can facilitate changes in behaviour for children, young people and adults ▪ Embed the PB themes in practice – ‘We all have the right to feel safe all the time’ and ‘We can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small’ ▪ Utilise the 7 strategies to embed the above 2 themes in work with children, young people, adults and for themselves
